It is not what you do, but how you do it.
It is how you show up every day. It is a choice you make, a mindset. A learned skill to hold back or lean in. A decisive action to take a loss with learning instead of anger or a win with grace instead of hubris. It is the moment where you choose to shift to compassion and understanding vs. blame and disappointment.
It is the trained ability to open your eyes another day to not only do it again, but to do it better.
But then the shift comes….
And how you do it becomes innate within you. How you do it, becomes who you are.
It is the subtle difference where it no longer takes practice or thought. It doesn’t require a moment to think, it not only feels effortless, it is to the core, you.
Time gives us a better understanding of who we are. Adversity, challenge and change help us examine this, and allow others to see it, as well.
Now, more than ever, we have learned that experience, skills and past actions only count for so much. How you do it and who you are matter more.
